The third annual MCCSC STEAM Night took place on November 12, 2024 at The Academy of Science & Entrepreneurship. The event offered students a chance to engage with a variety of activities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Students had fun exploring robotics, art, drones, esports, and much more.
The evening offered a wide array of interactive activities designed to engage students in problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation. Demonstrations were led by K-12 School Clubs, the IU School of Education, community partners, and the STEM to Them Mobile Lab.

Activities included:
- Robots: Students discovered a ‘clawbot’ and explored what battle bot robots could do
- Science Fun with Technology: Students observed and played with drones built by the BHSN Drone Club and explored Roblox and AI for Science.
- Microscopes & Freshwater Invertebrates: Students Grades 4-8 practiced using microscopes to observe fresh water from Lake Monroe.
- Artist Trading Cards: Students will be introduced to the concept of Artist Trading Cards and created their own.
- Gliders: Students built gliders and utilized Newton’s Laws in a fun and interactive way to complete tasks.
STEAM Night is a Ready Up program of the Ready Schools Planning Grant, and one of MCCSC’s numerous STEM initiatives that offer engaging ways for students to discover future learning pathways beyond the classroom. MCCSC offers a 4th Maker Challenge, a 6th Grade Programming Challenge, hosts VEX Robotics clubs, and offers events like STEAM night and the annual GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science) event. MCCSC’s “STEM to Them Mobile Lab” also visits schools to offer engaging engineering, making, and robotics lessons that align with Indiana State Standards.
