Families invited to learn about scholastic e-sports at MCCSC event

    3–4 minutes

Families are invited to learn about scholastic e-sports offered in Monroe County schools at MCCSC’s ‘Parent University’ event on December 5, 2024. The event will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MCCSC CoLab at 553 E. Miller Drive. Families who attend can learn how e-sports can benefit students, offering academic pathways, career skill development, and the opportunity to participate in team sports.

Five secondary MCCSC schools recently opened state of the art arenas for competition and academic study. These programs were made possible by generous support from a 3E grant from the Indiana Department of Education. An Esports Computer Science Pathway is being offered at Bloomington North and Bloomington South. State Champion, Batchelor, also offers an Esports production class. Jackson Creek, Bloomington Graduation School, The Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship and Tri-North are involved at the club level and have new spaces of their own.

Register to attend the Dec. 5 event here.

The event is part of MCCSC’s Parent University event series, which provides valuable resources for parents, caregivers, and guardians of MCCSC students. Past events have covered a variety of topics, including mental health awareness, academic success strategies, substance use prevention, college planning, and internet safety. Parent University is designed to empower families with the knowledge and tools they need to support students’ growth and well-being.
