Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) Interim Superintendent Dr. Markay Winston is hosting ‘Listen and Learn’ community engagement sessions during Phase 2 of her Entry plan. Phase 2 of the plan focuses on strengthening family and community partner engagement through open, transparent, and enhanced communication.

Dr. Winston held the first ‘Listen & Learn’ community listening meeting on October 9, 2024, at Tri-North Middle School. The event provided an important opportunity for community members to engage with district leadership, share feedback, and ask questions.

“Deepening trust and building relationships are at the very heart of my entry plan,” said Dr. Winston. “I look forward to creating new relationships that will allow me to grow my understanding and perspectives of our schools, support our team, and focus on work that keeps our students at the center of all decision-making.”

In addition to ‘Listen & Learn’ community forums, Dr. Winston’s community engagement during Phase 2 has included meetings with local media, business leaders, MCCSC union representatives, elected officials, and numerous organizations. She has also been meeting with students, teachers, and school leaders through her regular ‘Muffins with Markay‘ events.

Future ‘Listen & Learn’ events will be offered on a bi-monthly basis and will be advertised on MCCSC’s website at mccsc.edu/superintendent.
