More than 800 Eighth-Grade Students “Promoted” to MCCSC High Schools

The Monroe County Community School Corporation celebrates 819 eighth-grade students who completed their middle school journeys during recent “Promotion Night” ceremonies at three MCCSC middle schools.

    By the numbers:

    • Batchelor Middle School: 240 students
    • Jackson Creek Middle School: 294 students
    • Tri-North Middle School: 285 students

The successes of the Class of 2030 are many. These few examples highlight the breadth of accomplishment at MCCSC middle schools. The Batchelor Middle School choir program earned ISSMA all-state recognition. Jackson Creek Middle School won its first e-sports state championship, and Tri-North Middle School’s robotics team competed on the national stage after winning a state championship.

During the 2025-2026 school year, MCCSC middle school students displayed their commitment to both excellence and their community. Dr. Taji Gibson, principal of Tri-North Middle School, reflected on the Class of 2030 during her year-end speech at the school’s promotion ceremony: “They engage fully with the world around them, discovering that learning lives far beyond the walls of a classroom.”

Approximately 80 students from Tri-North participated in Global Youth Service Day, volunteering to support several local non-profit organizations, including Community Kitchen, Hoosier Hills Food Bank, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, My Sister’s Closet, Habitat ReStore, Opportunity House, Wheeler Mission, and the City of Bloomington Parks & Recreation Urban Greenspace. Additionally, Batchelor Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society students collected 354 pounds of food, which provided nearly 300 meals for families in Bloomington during the 2025-2026 school year.

Equally impressive is the Class of 2030’s commitment to their education. “The thing I like most about middle school is the variability of having multiple classes that enables me to learn as much as possible at once,” said Nour, a Tri-North Middle School student who cited “winning multiple Science Olympiad events at the state level” as their greatest accomplishment.

While many students have fond memories of athletics, clubs, classes, and friends, there are many whose favorite part of attending MCCSC is the teachers and staff they interact with daily. “…all of the teachers are super friendly and helpful,” said Gabriel, an eighth-grade student at Batchelor Middle School.

We congratulate all eighth-grade students entering high school this coming autumn and wish them continued success as they explore the opportunities available at MCCSC!
