MCCSC seeks public input on future of schools as advisory council begins work

BLOOMINGTON, IN — The Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) is seeking public input through a community survey to help inform long-term planning to sustain academic excellence and strengthen schools for the benefit of the entire community. The survey is the community’s opportunity to contribute directly to the work of MCCSC’s short-term Strong Schools, Strong Community Advisory Council.

MCCSC Strong Schools, Strong Community Advisory Council members meet for the first time on April 15, 2026.The advisory council — which includes community members, business and civic leaders, teachers, support staff, families, board members, administrators, and students — met for the first time on April 15 and will conclude its three meetings in May.

Together, the council will discuss a driving question: Imagine Bloomington is a first-choice destination for families. What would it look like to align investments across our schools and community to fuel long-term school and community growth?

    What the Advisory Council IS:

    • A short-term advisory group
    • An opportunity to learn
    • A listening and dialogue opportunity
    • An opportunity to help shape priorities
    • A way for the public to share how MCCSC can best serve our community within our current economic context

What the Advisory Council IS NOT:

    • A decision-making or voting body
    • A permanent committee or ongoing advisory
    • Connected to or an extension of any current or past MCCSC advisory groups or commissions.
    • A rubber stamp — the council exists to provide input, not to make or affirm decisions

The public is invited to complete the community survey at mccsc.edu/advisory to provide input on the same areas discussed by the Council, available through May 6.
