MCCSC newspapers were distributed to the community to share a glimpse inside our schools, share the impact of MCCSC referenda, and to show what MCCSC schools have to offer.

While our students are off to a strong start in the 2025-26 school year, it is important to us to build upon our strong relationship with our community. Publishing our first issue of the MCCSC newspaper is our way to share how students are thriving in our 23 schools, and to thank you for supporting public education.

We believe that sharing stories is the best way to show you what MCCSC schools have to offer. We hope you enjoy the stories in this newspaper as a glimpse inside our schools.

This fall, students are working toward their many goals and aspirations. Our musical and performing arts students are learning and rehearsing for performances that start this month. Students are enhancing their learning with clubs like robotics, debate, Model UN, Science Olympiad, world language and culture clubs, and more. They are finding balance between artistic and athletic endeavors.

They are also preparing for their futures. This year, more than 450 MCCSC students are pursuing career pathways through the Hoosier Hills Career Center. Students can choose from 26 different pathways corporation-wide. Students are also earning college credits early by taking a variety of 34 Advanced Placement courses and 41 Dual Credit courses.

    Experiential learning

We are proud to share that MCCSC students are engaged in learning beyond the classroom. Students create, question and learn in musical and performing arts venues, STEM labs, FabLabs, makerspaces, visual art and recording studios, gardens, nature trails, a career center, and more.

In these spaces, teachers design inquiry-based lessons that engage students in their learning. As just one example, students in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools will soon learn how to design research projects that will culminate in presentations in the spring.

Research and inquiry underscore our teaching as well. All MCCSC schools operate as Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), using an inquiry-based approach that allows teachers to design teaching methods that meet students’ individual needs.
