At the Monroe County Community School Corporation, we are committed to fostering safe, supportive learning environments where every student can thrive.
We take an integrated approach to student wellbeing through a “Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child” framework, addressing physical safety, mental health, and behavioral support. We believe physical safety, physical health, emotional health, and mental health are deeply connected, and when nurtured together, they create the foundation for learning, belonging, and thriving.
Our schools offer a robust physical education and health curriculum in all grades. Our well-staffed health offices recently increased the number of registered nurses (RNs) from 11 to 13, improving the student-to-RN ratio. We also have strong partnerships with community services to connect students with mental health and other resources.
We believe that school safety starts with fostering a supportive and welcoming school environment. Our staff implement Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) across all schools, while social-emotional learning programs help students manage emotions and develop life skills.
School safety is our top priority, and we are committed to providing a safe learning environment through comprehensive safety protocols. All schools have School Safety Plans that are created in collaboration with local law enforcement, communicated with staff members, and practiced regularly. Building entry is restricted and closely managed, doors remain locked during the school day, and employees are trained in school safety reporting protocols.
MCCSC collaborates closely with law enforcement and the Monroe County School Safety Commission in continuous school monitoring and all safety practices. Our safety team includes student resource officers, a school-community safety liaison, security guards, and a state-certified Safety Specialist at each school.
Anonymous incident reporting is available 24/7 through the STOPit website and app. Individuals can make anonymous reports about safety concerns, bullying, or other incidents. Reports are monitored 24/7.

We encourage students, staff, and community members to be familiar with the STOPit reporting tool.
