MCCSC’s Child Nutrition department received a Gold “Turnip the Beet Award” from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). MCCSC is the only school corporation in the state to earn the award’s gold rating.
Troy Cockrum, Bloomington High School North Language Arts teacher, was selected as a 2025-2026 Armstrong Teacher Educator for the Indiana University School of Education.
Katherine Edmonds, Bloomington High School North guidance counselor, was recently selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).

Angelia Floyd (above), Bloomington High School South science teacher, was honored with the 2024 National Association of Biology Teachers Outstanding Biology Teacher of the Year Award for Indiana.
MaryJane McNabb, Bloomington High School South social worker, received Indiana Social Worker of the Year honors from Indiana Schools Social Work Association.
Michiko Owaki, Bloomington High School North Japanese teacher, was awarded the 2025 Rising Star Award by the Association of Indiana Teachers of Japanese and will be recognized at the Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association Conference in November.
Matt Stark, Bloomington High School North Principal, was recognized by the Indiana Association of School Principals as Principal of the Year for District 9.

The Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship Principal Angie Evans (left) and Summit Elementary School Teacher Ashley Sotomayor (right) were recognized as Educators of the Year by The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce.
