The Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) is now offering more ways for prospective families to learn about the school corporation as they consider educational options. Beginning this month, families considering MCCSC schools can visit mccsc.edu/explore to sign up for a school tour or request information about schools of interest.
“We know that families have varied interests for their children’s education, and we want to provide the best possible way for them to explore what our school corporation has to offer,” said MCCSC Superintendent Dr. Markay L. Winston. “Families who are new to the community and are exploring educational options are welcomed to contact us to learn more. Our schools offer a comprehensive education, where liberal arts are highly valued and technology is a tool for hands-on learning, creativity, and academic excellence. We ensure all students have access to a high-quality education, from getting an early start in accredited Preschool and Pre-K programs — to preparing for college and careers.”
Tour options are available for any of the school corporation’s 14 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 4 high schools.
The MCCSC is committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities that prepare students for their futures, including:
STEM Certified Schools & STEAM Education — In addition to five STEM certified schools through the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), all MCCSC schools offer Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) education K-12.

International Baccalaureate World Schools — The International Baccalaureate (IB) World School program is a framework for international education that aims to foster inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people through challenging and rigorous academic programs. Childs Elementary, Templeton Elementary, and University Elementary are certified IB World Schools.

Musical, Visual & Performing Arts — MCCSC schools offer musical, visual, and performing arts options in grades K-12. In addition to the Elementary Strings program, middle and high schools offer various band, orchestra and choir options. In addition, Fairview Elementary is an Arts Integration school — offering “choice” arts classes in addition to regular music, art, physical education, and Spanish classes.

Outdoor Education — MCCSC elementary schools offer varied outdoor education experiences, and many schools offer unique opportunities, including nature-based STEAM education. Schools offer miles of hiking trails, a pond, a nature preserve, an amphitheater, gardens, and walking tracks used in daily instruction.
College & Career Pathways — MCCSC schools offer more than 40 dual credit courses, 34 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 26 career & college pathways. Students in all high schools can access the Hoosier Hills Career Center. In addition, The Academy is a certified Early College high school.
Dual Language Immersion — In schools that offer the Spanish Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program, academic content is taught in both English and Spanish.
