MCCSC preschool, kindergarten registration open    

    Preschool program free for MCCSC income-eligible families

    BLOOMINGTON, IND. — The Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) is now enrolling for the 3-year-old Preschool program and Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year. Students who will have turned three years old by August 1, 2025 are eligible for Preschool enrollment. Students who will have turned five years old by August 1, 2025 are eligible for Kindergarten enrollment.

    Thanks to public support for MCCSC’s 2023 Referendum, for the 2025-26 school year, all MCCSC-districted income-eligible families can attend 3-year-old Preschool for free or receive a stipend toward partner provider programs. Income eligibility is based on household income and family size, including household incomes up to 225% of the Federal Poverty Level. 

    “The 2023 Referendum is allowing us to greatly expand access to 3-year-old Preschool for all families. We expect that most families will qualify for free Preschool and encourage families to contact us for questions and to enroll,” said Tim Dowling, MCCSC director of early learning and enrollment. “Evidence shows that early learning programs have a significant positive impact on children’s development, setting them up for success before they enter Kindergarten.” 

    MCCSC 3-year-old Preschool program is offered at two Early Learning Center locations and six elementary schools. All MCCSC Preschool classrooms are state-licensed and rated Paths to QUALITYTM Levels 3 & 4 — the highest levels in the State of Indiana’s Child Care Quality Rating system. Additionally, all MCCSC elementary 3-year-old preschool locations are NAEYC accredited. Preschool staff work with students to develop skills in language and literacy, fine and gross motor, cognitive, and social-emotional domains while encouraging students to build the skills needed to guide their learning independently.
