MCCSC Interim Superintendent Dr. Markay Winston’s Entry Plan aims to honor the historical academic excellence of the corporation while focusing new energy on aligning resources to achieve the vision and mission of MCCSC’s strategic plan.
Phase 3 of her entry plan concentrates on providing an analysis on the organizational capacity, alignment, and overall fiscal and operational health of the organization.

Strategic Initiatives
- Strategic Plan Goal 3: Student Learning was presented at the September Board of School Trustees meeting, containing curriculum priortities to inform MCCSC’s next strategic plan.
- A hearing on the 2025 Budget was also presented at the September Board meeting.
- Information on how school finance works was shared at a Parent University session, School Finance 101: How Can We Afford That? See the slide deck and recorded video.
Childs-Templeton Engagement
More than 20 engagement sessions have been held to-date with parents, teachers, staff, community leaders, and advisory groups to hear their concerns and priorities on the Childs-Templeton merger. Each month, feedback has been incorporated into considerations presented to the Board of School Trustees.

Community Engagement
- Spoke at Bloomington Rotary Club, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteer Luncheon, NAACP general meeting.
- Held “Listen and Learn” and “Muffins with Markay” events at Tri-North and Lakeview Elementary to talk with parents and staff.
- Met with state and local representatives, community leaders, and advisory groups, including the newly-established MCCSC Young Child Advisory Group.
College & Career Pathways
This month, the Hoosier Hills Career Center hosted MCCSC’s annual College and Career Pathways fair. Students and their families talked with instructors to learn about educational options that align with their interests and spoke with 42 college, military, and industry representatives.
In addition, nearly 500 8th grade students recently visited Ivy Tech Community College to learn about college and career programs, including chemistry, respiratory therapy, business, robotics, semiconductors, AI, cybersecurity, biotechnology, and more.
